CPI in the German State of Hesse rises (Reuters) (29-02-2008)BERLIN, Feb 29 (Reuters) - Inflation in the German state of Hesse has risen to 3% in February, which shows that inflationary pressures are accumulating in the euro zone. Hesse is the first of six German states to post its figures; the numbers of all six states are used by the Federal Statistics Office to calculate inflation on national level. Naturally, analysts are not happy with the figure, which illustrates clearly how inflation is getting out of hand and comes after a reading of 2.8% for January. Hesse accounts for 7% of the weighting in the final German CPI number. Source: Reuters |
