One year after lowest point European markets show mild loss (MarketWatch) (09-03-2010)

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares marked the one-year anniversary of multi-year lows with mild losses on Tuesday, as worries about Greece and earnings-related weakness from EADS and Deutsche Post weighed.

The Greek ASE Composite Index fell 1.2% to 2,062.57 on Tuesday while the euro lost 0.3% to trade at $1.3590 against the dollar.

That move pressured commodity futures and miners were dragging in Europe. Shares of Chilean copper miner Antofagasta down 1.7% after its 2009 earnings decreased 61% to $667.7 million as lower copper volumes and lower molybdenum market prices offset higher copper prices.

On a regional level the French CAC-40 index fell 0.3% to 3,891.57, the German DAX index traded down 0.3% to 5,860.22 and the U.K. FTSE 100 index declined 0.5% to 5,578.61.
